NEW MANAGEMENT! Known this place from 2/3 years back and after months of closing, GREAT COMING BACK! Lovely welcoming by Antonio the owner, with his pure feeling of pride and passion & the love and commitment by the chef in each bite of his dishes. Place is presented cleaned, quiet atmosphere. The authenticity of the Italian cuisine.
Lovely authentic family owned restaurant recently under new management, bringing an authentic sicilian change to the menu. Dishes are small but filling as per the Italian style with an excellent mix of dishes.
We visited this restaurant shortly after its renovation and were impressed with the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and conversational, which we appreciated. However, there were a few issues that need addressing to enhance the dining experience. One of the pizzas we ordered was noticeably thicker than the other and unfortunately, half of it was burnt. The burnt taste made it difficult to enjoy, so I left it unfinished and mentioned it to a staff member, hoping the kitchen team would take note. On a positive note, the pepperoni pizza was delicious and authentically Italian. I also observed the pizza chef using his phone or talking on it while customers were present, which raises concerns about hygiene. This is an area that definitely requires improvement. When we received the bill, a glass of wine was missing from the total, but we didn’t bring it up. Still, I had hoped for a gesture like a discount on the burnt pizza, which is common practice in many restaurants. Service was another area that could improve. With only three tables being served, the staff seemed disengaged and spent some time on their phones rather than checking in with guests. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand the challenges, but there is certainly room for improvement. Wishing you the best of luck with the business. At this time, I’m unsure if we’ll return.
My partner and I enjoyed the garlic pizza with tomato sauce as suggested by the chef for starters, very nice with the buratta starter. Pasta mains were big & delicious too. I also forgot my handbag and the waiter phoned us and met us on the street to return it! Great service too! Highly recommend.
I must of visited hundreds of Italian restaurants in my lifetime. I very rarely post reviews and most of my posts have unfortunately been negative. However, in this instance this is not the case. We were greeted at the front door by the owner with a broad smile who showed us to our seats. The food menu was extremely small, not in the choice of food options but in size. In fact I wished I had screen shotted it. It was "dinky." I wasn't famished so I passed on the starter and went straight into the main course. I went for the Pizza Napoli. Tomato sauce Mozarella, capers, black olives, anchovies and basil. The pizza crust was crispy on the outside and soft inside, exactly how I love it. I could taste each individual topping. It was like being in food heaven. I had a taste of one of my friends dessert. Home made apple pie. The portion size was huge and the taste of cinnamon and cloves sent my taste buds into overdrive. Nest time I will ensure I don't miss out on Antipasto! The staff were extremely friendly and the owner divilged he used to own a very famous Italian restaurant in Hampstead. I am so looking forward to returning here.
