I had low expectations, but Sun and Sand Lounge surpassed them and delighted my taste buds! The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the service is quick. The staff are pleasant and friendly. I usually find that many BIR (British Indian Restaurant) restaurants around London lack flavor and use the same base gravy for almost everything. Sun and Sand Lounge is the complete opposite. Every dish was phenomenal, and the Indian/Kenyan fusion was a delight. Starter: The Mixed Grill was not overly spicy and offered excellent value for money. It included two lamb kebabs, tandoori wings, tandoori chicken pieces, and succulent lamb chops. Mains: Honestly, the lamb Karahi was perfect for me. The gravy was very thick, and the spices used were authentic, unlike those found in typical BIR restaurants. The chicken tikka masala curry was lovely. Unlike other Indian restaurants, it wasn't overly sweet and had the right balance of tomatoes and a subtle hint of smokiness. The garlic naan and pilau rice were delicious and complemented both dishes perfectly. Plenty of free parking after 6 PM is always a bonus. I will definitely be returning.
Delicious food. The tandoori mixed grill is perfect to share, great beers too! The Bombay Bicycle IPA goes down nicely.
We went for my sons birthday meal and was really happy with the service nice and polite and checking to make sure it was all going good the food came out in perfect timing. The food was absolutely delicious packed full of flavour they also made me a dish that was not on the menu so I was very grateful for that and was also yummy. The portions were not small at all and the price is good. I would highly recommend going here and will 100% be returning myself
After eating poor Indian food for 12 months in the Netherlands it was good to come somewhere that did excellent food. I tried some new dishes too which I can't remember the name of. Nice beer selection also.
My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous meal here last night. As two walk-ins, we immediately saw that it was busy but we were quickly accommodated. Poppadoms were provided with tasty mint yoghurt, chilli sauce and mango chutney. The chilli sauce was a particular highlight and I was even able to take a bottle home! I suggested that the restaurant sell these - stick a nice label on them and you have a little extra income along with a marketing opportunity. We followed the poppadoms with a shared onion bhaji starter (big portion), a chicken biryani, a peshwari naan and a vegetable saag. All very good and wholly recommended. No pictures of the food - I was too hungry!
